Food as a catalyst for community...

Woodberry Kitchen, Baltimore, MD

James Beard award-winning chef and restauranteur Spike Gjerde reached out to work on a campaign to bring the community, its employees, and loyal customers together while so many were struggling after a year in lockdown. For 15 years, WK has provided Baltimoreans food sourced directly from “hardworking farmers and watermen of the Chesapeake Bay watershed." By curating seven weeks of differing menus, the people of Baltimore could enjoy locally sourced takes on dishes from around the world.

I really enjoyed taking on this challenge to drive interest in the restaurant during an undeniable time of need. It was my job to translate WK’s meals into a unique visual story each week. By establishing a look early on, I was able to apply the set principles across any visual asset. This allowed us to be flexible and quickly create menus, labels, social content, and even a pizza box.

This campaign not only showcased Baltimore’s diverse local palette but also brought in money to support WK’s staff and charity.
